Check out my resto log I have some in progress pics of mine. As you start to cut stuff out you'll probably find more rust.

wow, that looks really good. thanks for posting that up. I might have a few questions for you eventually. I'm still not planning on buying floorpans, just making my own, so I was thinking of getting some body forming tools.

Even at a piece each is $250, $30 cheaper than Classic.

Unless all this was compared to a JY in which case they are not new there so...

I bought the set from hawks, total with shipping was $645..so make sure you factor that cost into your budget..still cheaper than classic industries.

Thanks. I am hoping to get these along with my SFC's this coming 09/10 winter. Along with new carpet and seats, but we'll see.

Re: Fix / Patch rust in Floor boards and Best way to prevent Future Rust.

Hey all, I am new to GM, actually, I work at a Ford Plant and own Ford. However, My dad and I are "restoring" (more like trying to get running and driveable) his 92 Firebird. I have stumbled upon this thread, because I am dealing with this same thing. My biggest concern is that the trailing arm? is rusted off and hanging on by the wheel. I will have photos on my page soon.. But I wasn't sure if anyone has dealt with this before. I am going to search the threads, but figured I would start here. Thanks for any input!

Re: Fix / Patch rust in Floor boards and Best way to prevent Future Rust.

I plan on getting either a roller or a car from Arizona eventually. My RS has patched up floor pans, wheel wells, the metal is pretty strong and has no leaks, But still, I know it's there.

On the east coast. it's near impossible to find these cars without some kind of rust damage. I've seen so many third gens with patches, donor pans it almost seems normal, and maybe it is here.

But worse than that, I have seen desecrated Camaro's in bone yards, riced out, bondo' floors with nuts and bolts and bars holding floors together.

Yeah, rust can be cut out and repaired. You can patch or replace the floorpan depending on the severity. But just make sure it's done strong and it's safe.

You have to keep in mind car accidents, big pot holes etc. And me personally, I would put Sub Frame Connectors on any rust free third gen.
