mako shark camaro
i want to paint my car in the mako shark two tone. Only instead of the bottom being white, making it silver. Any pics of two tones that fade into each other like the mako paint scheme? Also does anyone know the name of the blue on the mako corvette? any photoshop?

I'm a member of www.corvetteforum.com, just browse and see what you can turn up....mako pictures come up from time to time.
The mako shark was a GM concept car that was built in the early sixties.....the 1965 Mako Shark II body design was adopted for the 68-82 corvette.

does anyone know whats involved in laying down this type of paint scheme? My guess is simply two colors and a steady hand. I'm not sure if a third color is required between the two to help blend in the scheme. Anybody with any painting experience should be able to pull this off is what i'm thinking.

I believe you would have to paint the bottom section first, coming up a little further than just the section you see.
then have the top color over lap the lower color in the middle. the top color looks like a candy color,
so you might need to use a different color before you paint it to set it of.

I don't have any painting experience with cars, but I think I understand the concept of the mako paint job.

i was really hoping someone could photoshop a sample so i could at least have a good idea as to how it might come out. I'm not sure i want to gamble my money on hoping it would look good on the car.

Re: mako shark camaro
Post up a GOOD, direct side shot of your car. Can't Photoshop without a pic to work with.
Re: mako shark camaro
i don't have a camera at the moment, but son of anarchy posted a pic earlier on this thread of a perfect side shot. I have a 91 so it's basically the same. It's the two tone blue and silver above. Any help appreciated, thanks.

If not, MUCH easier to start with a solid color car, otherwise I woulda just started with that pic.

Here's some pics of mine, with a fade. Pardon the quality, but these
are more for project evolution. The paint was done by my brother-in-law,
and son, back when it was his car. And the fade job is the highlight of
the whole affair. I know for a fact he put the silver on top of the red.
If your intent of doing this yourself, unless you have a REALLY steady
hand, I'd recommend fabbing up a small roller dolly for the long run along
the sides. Then you can fill below the fade by hand.
Good luck, & keep us posted.
