UPDATE: Door Sag Eliminated

Hey guys

Just wanted to give you an update on the door sag problem. I ordered a hinge kit from Top Down Solutions and it worked great. I also went ahead and ordered a striker bolt and detent spring from TDS as well. Luckily my brother in law owns a shop and did the work for me. The door closes perfectly and I'm thrilled to say the least.

My door hinges were in very bad shape. The lower bushing was missing for so long that the pin was wearing on the joint which made the hole bigger. My brother in law used an oversized bushing to correct this and it worked out beautifully.

Now instead of lifting the door to close it I can just swing it shut with two fingers and 'bamo'. Perfect!

So, after one month of work I have the following done on my '88 IROC 350.

New:
Emergency brake cables
Rear brake bads, calipers and rotors
Front struts
Rear shocks and swaybar
Fixed door
4 new tires
Front end alignment
GT Grant steering wheel

Now on to phase II... Cheers to TDS, I love the door now! Before and after pics to be posted soon.

Re: UPDATE: Door Sag Eliminated

Phase II is where the rust spots underneath get cleaned up before painting. I had to spend some cash to get the emergency brake fixed before I venture underneath. I've owned the car for over 15 years now any luckily it has been safe from rain during much of that time.

On a side note. The stock upper door hinge pins have to be cut off to be removed as most here are already aware. The Top Down Solutions upper pins are bolt in. So removal of the old pins are tougher than the installation of the TDS pins.
