I have a 1986 Trans Am.
Ok Where can I get the bracket for the SIDE ground effects that goes on the front fender. I had a thread like this and ended up buying the wrong brackets from Hawks, so I don't mean the brackets on the front of the fender, I mean the ones on towards the rear for teh GFX skirts.

Does no one know where to get this? I tried a search already, and I would think this would be a mass produced part because I see people with the same problem, this bracket rusts and crumbles, leaving the front of the GFX popped off.

 

Not sure exactly what you mean. The ones on my wife's 87, on the rear of the front fender is just a strip of metal that some studs attach to and go through the holes in the fender. I made some with some metal and a welder. The original ones have a square holes and a curl at the top and bottom. (prob to help with them smoothly slide in the GFX and not pull in the edges.)

 

That sounds like the spot I am talking about. So I guess no one makes it. Was it easy to make yours?

 

Yes it was easy, just get some flat sock(11/2 or 11/4 can not remember) and mark the holes and weld some studs or bolts with the heads cut off in those spots. Tighten with nuts/washers on the inside of the fender. They (the newly made bracket) pop in a hem seam in the urethane GRFX part. HTH

 

I was looking for another item out in the garage and found the bracket you're talking about. Do you still need one?

I am the same way. But that is about right for that piece becasue I bought the wrong ones that are bigger then that for $10. So half the size, half the price. What would shipping be to 10509? You have another? or is that it?

 

I was going to ship it for that price. I could look around and see if I have another. You never know what you might find out in the garage.
