Paint/window question
Paint/window question
So on my front windshield there is the little rubber seal that runs around it. I don't want to tape this off as I have seen the results and they are no good.
Can you just pull this out and replace it afterwords? its not like its holding the window in or anything so...

Re: Paint/window question
im not sure how hard that is to remove on these cars, but there is a trick to taping it without removing to get good results. Stuff some nylon rope under the edge of the seal so it raise the lip off the painted surface, then tape the edge of the seal. now you will be able to get some paint under the seal to make it look right. remeber to scuff the paint under the seal like you would anywhere else.
However, my experience on Jeeps has taught me that under that seal is often where some bad rust lurks, so removing the seal may be better, on some vehicles, even removing the windsheild is necessary to get rid of the rust, or it will just creep back out from under the seal. Think of it as a good opportunity to get a new, clear windshield.
