Do I paint in the Bumperettes ????
I have a base 87 bird and of course it has the little black bumperettes on the bumpers
When I repaint the car, I have been thinking to maybe paint over them with the same colour as the car ?.
If it's painted over, does it look wierd ?
I am in 2 minds what to do - need help!!!.
Thanks,
Rhys.

I had an 88 bird, and I painted them white to match the car. I liked it much better. Just my $0.02

I like the contrast on mine, but you can't buy them new anymore so if you paint them you are going to have to stay that way. Most people keep them cleaned and treated with dash "armorall" type stuff. So you will need to make sure to get them clean and all the residue off them.
If you don't like them painted you will be forced to find them in the junkyard or other used venue.

I personally prefer the look of the contrasting Black as well. It is one of those parts that people either love them or hate them.
Personally what I ended up doing was to strip them of the years of armor-all and then use some "Bulldog" adhesion promoter and then paint them gloss black. Personally it goes unnoticed, but it really cleaned up the fascias to make them look better IMHO.
The Bulldog is clear BTW...
I guess I should state that every time I see a car where the bumper-etts were painted I think to myself that someone was lazy and did not want to take the time to remove them prior to painting...

Re: Do I paint in the Bumperettes ????
Bulldog is good stuff. I like that it has enough mass to fill really light scratches. Follow the directions implicitly or the paint will get fisheyes. Duplicolor makes an adhesion promotor in an aresol. Its essentially a clear primer that sticks to plastic really well. It doesnt have any filling properties what so ever though.
Personally I like the black contrast myself

If you do paint them body color take them off to do so. Otherwise you will eventually have paint chips at the seam.
I have managed to find the front two in new old stock. Now I am trying to find the rear two.
With pontiac going away I'm not sure what the pontiac dealerships will do with any of the NOS parts they have for our cars they will probably become even harder to find.
