Re: engine bay

I kinda think flat black looks good, takes the eye away from the fender wells and focuses more on the engine. I doesn't look as dirty and it's easy to touch up as opposed to body colour, unless the body colour paint of your car is flat black.... lol

Re: engine bay

I DA sanded mine 300 grit, the parts I couldn't hit, I hand sanded 300 grit. Then i used John Deere (yes the tractor) primer for the engine bay. (I did alot of reading up on it, and the primer is pretty much bulletproof, it withstands high heat, completely seals, and dries HARD.) Its a bright yellow which is pretty good when your spraying over it because you know you hit all the spots. After that I sanded it in spots where I over sprayed too much, (and trust me, to get in some of the cracks and crevices expect to put a thick coat in some places). Then I hit the bay with my PPG semi-gloss black. The only picture I have is with my strut mounts still installed and my steering linkage still attached, I have since removed those and hit it with 2 more coats. Hope this helps a little.
