Re: ground effects question

do you mean will 85-90 ground effects fit your 84 z28 front bumper cover? Unfortunately, I don't know the answer... but you'd probably get a lot of incorrect answers if you aren't more specific with your question.

Re: ground effects question

85-onwards gfx will not fit on an 82-84 nose, not even close. And please keep your car looking like an 84! This early body style is getting very rare now... and it looks cooler, meaner and sharper than the later ones

Re: ground effects question

Its a love it or hate it kinda thing at this point i think. I love the earlier style as well as the later style. I will agree with the above comment. If you have an 84 please keep it earlier. There are way too many early third gens converted to look like later thirds. I NEVER see the earlier style anymore.

Re: ground effects question

I agree that it's cool to keep it looking like an 84. That's why I wouldn't convert my 84 T/A... it's less common to see them and makes them stand out more.

LOL! not really... Not me, at least. The 85-onwards style simply makes me think "RS". Common base model, probably bought by a kid for $500 and just driven to the ground. Sorry, but that's the first thing that comes to mind, unless it's an obvious, original IROC with original hood, rims and decals.

The older style - that's a different story. These are rare. It makes me think "collectible" and "classic"... none of those "white trash" connotations come to mind, regardless of condition. Maybe because I see plenty of RS's being molested by kids, while I never see them do that to the classic 82-84s?
It just feels (at least to me...) like it's something more noble.

Not that I don't like RSes or the 85-onward Z28s and IROCs. They're beutiful and cool cars too! But like I said, keep your 84 original. It's rare now, especially in its original shape, and IMHO is becoming a goddamn collectible about now.

Personally, I've rescued enough 82-84 parts from scrapped or parted out cars to make a replica out of an 86...

Re: ground effects question

Before buying the kit research spring rates first and see if it is right for you. I know that when i looked i could not find a single aftermarket spring kit for my iroc with as hard or harder spring rates. If i lowered my car it would actually handle worse rather than better (in my opinon that is). If i lower my car i would want to keep the same spring rate or go a bit stiffer even.

Btw to the picture above...that is a really nice clone of a 82-84 z. Good job.

Re: ground effects question

I have an Eibach pro-kit and I'm very happy with it. It is lower, but looks like what I would've expected the factory ride height to be. A friend has the Eibach sportlines and it makes the car a good bit lower. Prokit is around 1 to 1.25" drop and Sportlines are around 2" drop.

Re: ground effects question

82-84 looks really sleek, but it all depends what you like, but like some guys are saying they are hard to find.
