1990 iroc hatch back not closing

1990 iroc hatch back not closing

I thought I posted this before but cant find the answer. Can anyone tell me how to close the rear hatchback 1990 iroc I tryed hooking up battery cables but no luck maybe the wire is bad or syl noid is bad I want to manual close if there is a way. Thanks

you can slam it but it will crack the housing for the pull down motor

once i used a screw driver and pushed the release where the hatch goes - and another time i pushed down on the inside of the mechanism and it unlocked the unit so that the bar in the hood would be accepted in the latch mechanism.
another time i pulled the unit out - cleaned it with gun scrub - then used gun lube - the kind you can see actually be absorbed into the metal - did that 4 or 5 times - them used some artificial lube - and put it back in and it worked.
dont really know what i did to make it work.

Well your comment sure is alot of help If your in an emergency situation just remove the pull down and tie it shut until you can figure out what is actually wrong.

It's sounds like you may need need a new hatch motor assembly. If you do, we have them available on our website.

Ok thanks again for info right now I have it tye wrapped shut , should I find the hatch assembly is bad I will be getting in touch

Update on hatch back I moved the hold down assembly up about a 1/4 inch tightened it up and removed the thing that has 3 little magnets? The hatch closes tight now I will relace and relocate parts to orig place once I get the wiring fixed The key I got with car had chip missing so it wont crank anyway
