Got a BAD leak on the passenger side T-top

If anyone has been keeping up with the weather channel, or lives down south in the Georgia/Florida area, you know how much constant rain we've had for the past 3-4 days, and its supposed to continue into tomorrow...

And so for the past 3-4 days, I've had a soaking wet passenger seat, and yesterday when I got in my car (86 Firebird) I had so much water on the floor behind the passenger seat, it was a pool about half an inch above the carpet.
This is coming from my T-top, and drips straight out from the black plastic covering around the handle, so somehow the water is following the outline of the T-top and running into the hollow part of the T-top...I assume...

Anyone know how to fix this? Have experience in it? My car smells horrible the next few days after heavy rain from the moisture just building up and sitting. I used a shop-vac and tried to dry it up as best I could, but with the constant rain we've been having (literally, it's been raining at least every hour for the past few days) it isn't doing a whole lot of good. I draped a towel over the side of the car tonight to help keep the water from running all down in the cracks...

Any advice would be great. Certain parts I'm going to need? Anything else I can do besides buying $160 weather-stripping that might still be good? It does not leak at all around the glass, my headliner isn't wet. It just comes from inside the black plastic

Could it be you're window is not fully up. Not saying you're an idiot. but sometimes they need adjusting to seal it.

I'm sorry I can't really help you with the T-top problem. There are so many ways water can get in it's really hard to say how it's getting into your car. One thing I have found is that a dirty seal will leak. Get some rubber treatment and clean things up.

The other problems you face can be even worse. You really need to dry out your carpet and even more importantly the pad undrneath it. Even if you have to take the carpet out. That padding can hold gallons of water ... for a really long time! If it's still raining put some plastic over the tops when it's parked. Keep as much water out as possible.

my window is definitely up as far as it'll go, but you're right, always a possibility.

Latches to adjust the T-tops, huh? How's that work? I *think* mine are aftermarket? I was told they were, but I've never been able to compare with anyone else's...We weren't the original owners of the car. Looks like a factory job to me, though. I don't really believe it.

Thanks for the responses!

Well you're going to have to get a glass of water and pour it slowly around the top of the t-top, to see exactly where the leak is. The leak will most likely be on the side of the t-top, that little hard plastic almost visor like cover on the top, they tend to come lose. Now if it is that, then extremely lightly tap that plastic visor back on. Good luck with that minor set back, breats my heart to know there's a stinky third gen.

I would get a blue plastic tarp for now, just to keep the water out of the interior and drape it over the T-Tops. You don't want water damage on the inside.A towel will just soak up the water and continue to leak.

If you end up needing new seals here's a link to the firebird ones we offer.
