paint rub on GFX

Like many other thirdgen's, the paint on my gfx is rubbed off on both sides. I know my driver side door needs new pins and bushings because it doesn't close very well, but my passenger door closes with minimal effort. Also, when I try to lift up on it there is no play whatsoever. When I look at my gfx where it mounts on the door I can see a little waviness to it and I really think that's why the paint is rubbed off.

I'm getting my car painted soon and I'm trying to decide if I should replace the pins on that passenger door. Am I right in thinking the paint is going to rub back off regardless of if the pins are replaced or not?

I am preping my car for paint also.passenger side door closes just like yours and I also have the rub on my ground effects.I will be doing upper and lowers on both doors prior to painting. My paint guy also suggested a 3M clear tape like product over that area and says its really durable and wont peel up like tape.

When you disassemble your car for paint take a close look at where the gfx attach and the pieces that attach to the rocker panel. There is most likely some room for adjustment... Even if it means wacking it with a block of wood and a hammer.
