Window Sweeps and Door Panels

I have new outer sweeps. Actually, I've had them for about 2 years, but never put them on. Yesterday, I finally put them on, also did some work to the door panels. The inner sweeps were almost separated from the top caps, and the top caps were starting to separate from the door panels.

I reinforced the holes in the door panels by epoxying washers over them and using the original sheet nuts to secure them. This will do until I get new door panels.

I drilled out the spots in the plastic where the sweep was secured to the top cap (almost all the "welds" were broken) and secured the sweep with pop rivets.

Doors are alot more solid now, I'll have to take a drive and see how the rattles are. I have a little adjusting to do on the windows now, the driver side needs to come out on the bottom to bring the top in - it likes to catch the drip guard on the T-top when fully up. More adjustment today

Hey...lmk how you get the window adjusted. I have the same problem. Thanks.

Nice job on the door panels...I did the same thing with the rivets.

Re: Window Sweeps and Door Panels

I already had an idea where to look for the adjustment, but used the tech article for reference. Adjustment #5 moves the top of the window in or out (I moved it in to get under the drip guard) by moving the bottom in the opposite direction.

I also had the tops apart to swap hardware over from another set, and in the process I got the weather seal upside down, I flipped that over and cured 90% of my problem.

Since the board was worn, they came off with a pair of pliers easy enough. For the most part, I just twisted them on with my thumb (kind of like squishing a bug ), then got the pliers on them again the best that I could.
