No. The T-top glass to rubber seal surface never leaks. Its the rubber seal to body that leaks.

Re: t-top's

Great! Could you post some pics of this car? If the tops were never taken out, and the car was "grandma driven", i would think it's like a survivor!

If you need any help with uploading pics just pm me. Also, any questions about your car just post in the appropriate board. Good luck man

Re: t-top's

Wow. Nice ride. Be sure to occasionally treat all the seals now with silicone emulsion (what I found to work the best). It's available at most automotive stores or just down at your local dealer. That'll keep those seals in great shape for years to come.

The paint looks in pretty good condition. Little to no fading from the sun, etc. Is the interior just as nice? How's the dash pad? Was it stored inside?

Re: t-top's

it has 56,000 miles , I'm planning to keep it stock for the most part I may either rebuild the 305 or step it up to a 350 in a couple years besides that keepin it the same , the paint is sh*t it's a 20 footer it's faded a little and she hit mt pop's truck and got the drivers side repainted and they did by far the worst job I've ever seen they didn't blend it at all it has a hard line on the roof on the driver side really made me mad when i saw it because it would look really good if it weren't for the sh*tty repaint .Oh and the louvers are gone i just didn'y dig them from the time she put them on.The interior is like new still has the original bag for the t-tops in the back she used to cover it in the lot at work so the sun has not ever really touched it.Sorry this is so long but i wanted to answer all you guys questions , and i'll get more picks up soon , thanks for all the compliments It's nice to hear that from people who appriciate my car some people don't get it as I'm sure you all know.

Re: t-top's

Love your car! Keep her stock! If you want to build up a car, buy a solid high miler, then modify away. My car was also owned by an older person, and only has 28K miles on it. When we took it to the Fbody Gathering in Atlanta this year, the attention it got was unreal. I had people that we had never met coming up all weekend, and asking if I was the guy that had the 86 bird with 28K miles. Several people at the show said that the low mileage and overall condition of the car makes it very rare, even though the car is not a rare model. We walked away with Class Winner for 82 to 87 stock Firebird. My car had to be painted because the clear coat developed cracks in the surface and turned yellow, otherwise the car is very clean and undamaged. We had the blue part painted, but left the silver trim original. The unmolested cars are going to have the best value of any of the thirdgens some day. A 56K original maro is something special and something to keep.

Re: t-top's

I would love to keep it stock but I like going to the track and going fast while the car is quick it's not fast I've been reading alot of 305 build ups and I am leaning that way to keep the #'s matching aspect there so maybe one day it could be worth something even though I don't plan on ever selling it i've loved it since i took my first ride in it in 84 when i was 6.I had a 94 Z28 and it was a piece O shiz and almost ruined camaro's for me .Again thanks for the nice words I look forward too talking to you guys in the future.

Re: t-top's

if i were u, keep this car stock,

a car you drag race is a bone yard car taht has nothing left on it and is not good for anything but racing.

that car has nothing but beauty on it.

its your car but i wouldnt hack it up for drag racing.

you can get another camaro for like 500 and do whatever you want to it.

but nice car goodluck

Re: t-top's

I agree with the post above ! This time capsule MUST stay stock.

But the main questions is, how can someone drive a car for 56,000 miles and never remove the T-Tops !

Re: t-top's

Keep it stock stock stock! The only thing I did to my 86 iroc is replace the stock aircleaner with Camaro duel snorkle air cleaner, and a flowmaster cat back exaust. I'm gonna get a K&N element, but that's it.. JamesC recommended SFC,s for both of my Camaros. Maybe I'll do this also.

I completely agree, that car is a gem and the only work that should be done to it should to preserve it using O.E. parts, no autozone replacements. That is what I think, but no one here can tell you what to do with your car.

A race car is a race car, and a street car is a street car. Just about every mod you do to make a drag car better kills its streetability. An 11 second car with 56k on the clock is worth just as much as one with 456k. But a beautiful street driven car with 56k on it is worth some money.

Re: t-top's

I remember when my 84 used to look like that, except black. There's many a time i wish id left it stock.Maybe thats why i kept my stock wheels.Anyway its a beautiful car & should be left alone.Dont race it!Your just risking damaging it.Just the abuse, after all the gentle care gramdma gave it.Thats an insult to your nanna.Show her you intend to preserve this car, not treat it like any other run of the mill camaro.Shame on you.Even the center of the front GFX is cherry!Damn!!!!!!!

My 84 is identical to yours! Don't cobble it up..................

Its enamel single stage paint too so a good compound and buff
will shine it up nice!
