more wiper woes
more wiper woes
90 model firebird. I've searched all the way to 2006 in the forums, found this same question twice, but the answers haven't helped my situation. The driver side wiper comes clear over the pillar post about 3 inches. I checked the positioning, but seems to me that if I change it on the splined mount to lower it, the arm is going to beat itself death on the low position. Also, are both splined mounts supposed to be the same? The passenger side has a keyed looking shaft, while the driver side is a splined shaft with no key. Has some previous owner changed something here, or is this correct?
I originally thought the arms might be incorrect, and that's when I noticed the 2 different mounting shafts.
ANYBODY....any ideas about what to do?

Re: more wiper woes
The arms on the passenger side and driver side are different (at least they are supposed to be). If your arms are correct, the only other possible thing it could be is a bent linkage in your cowl. Run to a yard and check out the arms to see if they match yours. I could get photos, but wouldn't have them for you till next week.
Re: more wiper woes
Thanks, guys. I'll start by moving the arm back about 3 inches, but I have a feeling it's going to slam on the stop at the bottom of the windshield. We'll see. Also, I'll check out the yard where I've found the salvage birds and camaros and see if there's a 90 sitting around there. And, yeah, the arms are different in their configuration, not to mention the splined shaft mounts.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
Re: more wiper woes
I had the keyed arm reversed in my description. They keyed side is the driver's side. Couldn't move the position of the arm, so I put a slight bend in it. Everything is fine now. Apparently the arm had gotten bent somewhere down thru the car's history. At any rate...bring on the rain. Thanks again guys.
