fiberglass hood problem need assistance

fiberglass hood problem need assistance

well i bought a glasstek 4" bolton cowl hood for my 83 my problem is that there is a lip on the front of the hood that prevents it from closing it is hitting the bumpercover ive heard of grinding the lip but im not sure how much to leave there anyone have same problem?

Thanks for the info! I thought they were direct bolt-on--only needing to be aligned to the cowl//fenders like when the hood is removed then placed back on. Sorry I'm no help to you.

take the hood off. take a piece of masking tape and make a line with the tape about an 1/8 of an inch at a time off with a cut off wheel or dremel untill it fits the way u want. are u planing on pins or latch? if u are doing pins most fiberglass hood will pull up in the middle at highway speeds, ive seen a lot of fiberglass hoods with 4 pins in the front and 2 in the back, i myself only have 4 pins total. i do see that mine comes up a lil bit but not bad. just thought i would let you know

you can do it with no pins and it has been done. but ive heard of horror storys of reaching higher speeds and having the hood split.. and most glass hoods ive seen have had pins. now there are pins that sit flush with the hood there just more expensive and labor intensive then the regular pins.
