I've needed a set of these for awhile too. I bet they sell like hotcakes once they're out.
They were bad on my 92 RS with lexan which had plastic strips... But the rubber ones that are in my older glass t-tops (that I replaced the lexans with) are WAAAY WORSE. The rubber has much more of a memory and pulls out of the top much easier too. So once the problem starts it escalates in weeks of shutting it in the door, where the plastic ones took years.
I'm tired of holding up the edge and closing the door with my foot so my seat don't get wet.

I do the same damn thing.. holding the drip edge when I shut the door. I did take a heat gun and "warped" it upward so the glass clears the door. I also used some black silicone to repair them. They still need replacing bad. I'm not sure they need to be there in the first place. If I cannot find replacements, I might remove them and see what happens. I can always put them back.

Only problem, is in the rain season, if your car is facing uphill slightly and you don't have it, the water will run down the t-top and drip in the corner of the window. It drips into even the best adjusted windows and nicest weatherstripping... I did all of that trying to stop it, now I just have it in covered parking, lol

Hey Tony and Dan,
I have a 1982 Trans Am with the original rubber rails. I am trying to figure out if I should buy your new replacement rebuuer ones or if I should hold out for the plastic ones.
I really like the idea of the plastic ones, but I'm curious as to the fitment as they were not originally designed for my years T-Tops. What are your thoughts? Will they fit just as well as the rubber ones? Will the window clearance be just as good? Etc. etc....
Thanks!

Hey Thomas,
if you have any questions about the install, let me know. I've done em a few times, so I'll be happy to answer any questions if something comes up. Very interested to hear how things turn out for you!

Got mine installed yesterday. Installation was easy took about thirty minutes had to clean off the old glue. Now if I could find the channel pieces that go around the edge of the t-top glass, they would be finished.

Re: What is that T-Top drip edge called and where can I find it?
sure!
1. you need a torx 20 to get the bolt out of the latch mechanism and a phillips screwdriver to undo the 3 screws holding the plastic trim piece in place.
2.once the plastic's off, you should see 2 phillips screws holding the roof rail seal in place to the top that need to be undone.
3.pry the roof rail seal out of place. i had good luck starting at the outer most edge and pull it toward you (it sits in a channel and the plastic tabs get in the way if you pull any other way).
4. remove the four more phillips screws holding the metal seal channel in place.
5. once the channel is off, remove the old piece, swap on the new one, and reverse!

ya never know what the future may bring, but I don't think we'll be see those parts any time soon (no suppliers currently who do trim for us).

Hi,
I want to get some of these, but not sure if I want the rubber ones, or the plastic ones.
I have an 84, so it has the rubber ones now. But I'm wondering if the plastic ones would be better because they'll never sag and hit the window glass.
What does everyone else prefer?
They are interchangeable right?

Re: What is that T-Top drip edge called and where can I find it?
my 87 TA came with the rubber and i opted to use the plastic ones when i replaced them. the plastic ones have an alignment "pin" on them that does not seem to fit some earlier models. however, the pin is plastic and can just be cut off without any other fit issue

I prefur the hard plastic type. make sure you run a file or snad paper around the edge of the plastic to remove the sharpe edges tho.

Re: What is that T-Top drip edge called and where can I find it?
I asked some of the 1A guys this question at a car show they were holding in Pepperll, Ma this past summer as I have an '82 with well worn rubber myself. Dan and Tony were not at the both when I came by but the other two guys said they preferred the rubber style as it fits the t-top better due to it's more forgiving and form-fitting bend nature. They admitted that the plastic would probably last longer in New England, but the the rubber may serve me better. Made sense, hope this helps.

Does anyone have any pics of both the rubber and the plastic styles installed. I've never seen the plastic ones before and want to see how they look compared to a good condition rubber style.

hmm, is the pic above the 'alignment' pin you mentioned? That just get cut off? I'm putting the plastic ones on my 84 glass tops.

Re: What is that T-Top drip edge called and where can I find it?
from feedback i've gotten from a few other people, apparently not all of the t-tops had the holes for the alignment pins like mine did. I had the rubber ones on my 87 TA, but it had the holes for the plastic pins. If yours do not, just cut them off and you're good to go.
