Anybody with a V8 in street trim under 3200 is full of it or hasn't weighed their car.[/QUOTE]
I had an 84 Z28 that I bought stock very low option LG4 T5 car. manual shift, seats, windows, locks, no power hatch or antenna. No A/C, cruise, tilt, rear defog, absolutely no window tint (I know window tint dose not weigh anything) all this car had was a radio, console clock and 2 speed wipers. This car was factory stock in this configuration and in great condition. I modified the car before I weighed it. I swapped in a a 92 TPI 305 with exhaust manifolds not headers. I did not re install the emissions equipment, but added the extra wiring, fuel return line and swapped in a tank with a fuel pump and GTA wheels. After the mods I did weigh the car. I was just about out of gas when I weighed that car so now I weigh my cars without much gas for comparisons sake. With the above mentioned mods the car weighed 3120 lb. I have a few parts left from this car including the very rare glass, I have pics of the car, before and after the mods, I still have the spid and I still have the scale certificate and it is the same scale I used to weigh my current Z both before and after, My current car is a 91 Z that was pretty loaded when I got it and it weighed 3320 with almost no gas and 3040 now.Call me full of it and your ignoring the facts and if the factory put it out it is street trim no matter what level of plushness you personally prefer. My current car that weighs 3040 lb. yes the rear seats are gone so are the rear seat belts and mounting brackets, but it is carpeted and has interior panels and looks very nice not gutted. In my personal opinion it is cruel and unusual punishment to put a small adult back there much less a full sized one anyway.
Damn so mine weighs a little less with aluminum heads and a aftermarket k member also I have no rear seats ,and man I feel the same way bout fitting someone back there, GO BREWERS

ive weighed both my third gens on numerous occasions, they always about the same (depending on gas), ive tried different scales etc. both are under 3200
1. 1985 Base Camaro
2. 3.4l L32, 700r4
3. t-tops, AC, non cruise control, non power locks and windows
4. complete AC delete, spare tire/jack delete, EGR and EVAP delete, headers fiberglass pin on hood, interior mostly gutted, retaining the front seats, center console, door panels and dash(no dashpad, its cracked so I removed it, going to get a fiberglass one piece unit eventually), rest is out and staying out. All hood hardware removed, ie. latch, cable, hinges, rear hatch shocks removed.
5. Stock its curbweight weighed in at 3153, I estimate that it should be about 3k with my weight reduction mods, but haven't had a chance to actually weigh it yet.(anyone have any suggestions where to go for such a thing?)
Also to clear things up for the guy that thinks his thirdgen weighs more than a new challenger, you were most likely looking at the GVWR sticker, aka gross vehicle weight rating, that is not the weight of the car, it is the maximum weight of the car, ie. the most it can weigh when loaded up with cargo and what not. The actual curbweight is found by subtracting the capacity, which will be listed on the same sticker or one nearby.

Reason: Adding more to the list as I remember, lol.

or its a drug runner and has 300 pounds of coke strapped to the bottom of the car.
Completely bone stock except for flowmaster catback, 305 TPI, T5, 9 bolt rear, glass t-tops, full accessories/emissions, fully loaded, missing headliner, power everything, spare tire and jack removed, 1/4 tank of fuel. 3320 lbs. without driver. Certified Cat Scale. (Twice)
Even with it completely stripped right now, there's still more weight to be taken off. Tubular K member, lexan hatch, some skinnies up front, a fuel cell, lightweight battery.
One of these days I'm going to figure out if I could have a running third gen that's less than 2,500 pounds. Gonna have to ditch my turbo SBC/auto idea and find a wrecked LS1/T56 car in the future.
Mmmhmmmm I wonder how much weight I've added to my car....89 trams am gta 8 point toll bars 88mm turbo Hotside/coldside pipes intercooler 12x9 transmission cooler and fan th350 9 bolt rear 28" Mickey Thompson radial fiberglass wrap around wing heavier -8 fuel lines 3.5" downpipe ttops tubular xmember tubular aarms no front sway bars 15x4 summit star wheels urethane ram air hood all ac components have been removed all dash wires are removed 4th gen firebird dash and center console stock cloth driver and passenger seat power windows power door locks power mirrors full borla exhaust luckly I only weight 145 lol
we just got a weight on this car , without driver in it ,and there is another racing seat and harness in at time of weighing and it came out at 1200 kg. or 2695 lbs .front end is all stock yet so we will be shaving more weight off it yet in the future. so it is possible to get the weight down a lot and still have a full cage.

Very good weight. What engine and trans are in it? Are they stock metal doors? Glass or lexan hatch? And the front end is 100% stock, stock K, A arms, bumper support, etc? Got power or manual steering?
Every time I see an update on this thread, it makes me want to get to work on my car. Mine will eventually be ridiculously light. Not going to run a cage either. Only weight I'll be adding would be subframe connectors. Under 2,700 with a cage is just awesome.
1. Model/year; 1990 Trans Am
2.Engine and trans; 350 TPI/700R4
3.Options (ttops, ac, etc); no T-tops, but power windows and such.
4.mods; i still have the old spoiler
5.Weight; about 3400-3500 fully loaded.
Just to give some perspective of how much more the 4th gens weigh than the 3rd gens, my 94 Z28 M6 with no interior, no front crash support, no AC or AIR, and only the 2 front seats, no dash, and the guages zip tied to the firewall the car weighs 3010lbs. My brothers 2000 WS6 trans am at full weight was 3560lbs.
I heard power and manual door guts weight about the same. I wonder what mine weights, no heater ac of any kind, barely any wires, 350, t5, no jack or spare, and I have a set of plastic t tops. Also my seats I installed weigh easily half what my stock manual seats weigh. Also no radio, speakers, etc.
I'm curious to know how much a 1991 Formula 350 WS6 weighs? I can't find it anywhere! Under/about/over 3300lbs?
my formula comes in at 3252,thats with ac delete, cat delete, cruise delete, but added fiber glass hood-spoiler,sub frames, tubular LCA-PHB... That had 1/4 tank of fuel

any idea what it would be w/ A/C, cat, cruise and with all other stuff. i do have lighter heads though but how much it would weight as stock? 3300ish?

Forgot that weight is with Aluminum heads and lighter cross lace rims....I would think the car from the factory would be around 3325-3350... Mine is not a good example being I have messed with it so much. You were also asking a 91 Formula, mines an 89 with a 91-92 Formula nose conversion.
1. 1988 Trans AM GTA
2. 383TPI / Borg-Warner T56
3. Hardtop
4. Emmissions!, AC Delete!, transmission swap, gears, Custom CAI, bore/stroke, headers, exhaust, SLP Runners, intake, MSD ingnition parts, and Fiberglass hood
5. Stock weight: 4200-lbs and change. Modified weight: 3260-lbs.
As stated before, gross vehicle registered weight, max it should be fully loaded

Any scale is only as accurate as the guy maintaining/calibrating it,I've been installing and calibrating scales from lab equipment to truck and train scales for almost 20 years, you would be surprised how many never get checked/adjusted after initial installation, especialy privately owned 4 corner type racecar scales.
I haven't weighed my car yet, when I get a chance I'll set up some platform scales and drive it up on and get a weight in 1 pound graduations.

No doubt. I won't argue with you there. It is quite obvious that my statement meant that you cannot trust the readings off any old scale. I do not imply that scales cannot be accurate.
Even if they are off by 2% that is 70lbs off right there.

Exactly,I see stuff thats a lot more off than 2% sometimes,I wonder why people would buy a scale, not a cheap piece of equipment by any stretch, and never have it tested/adjusted for maximum accuracy.
My '91 Z28 weighs 3380 with 56.2% over the front and 43.8% over the rear. I haven't really done any weight reduction yet besides headers. It has the stock LB9, T5, hard top, A/C.
My fully loaded 87 IROC-Z in bone stock form was shipped from the factory to the dealer at 3478#. My GAWR comes in at 4288#. The GTA should be similar.
Im pretty sure thats GROSS. IE with a payload/occupants.
Ok, you're responding to a 7 year old post. What's your point? My car empty weighs what I posted and has a max axle load of what I posted. If you look carefully, I specifically called out GAWR!
1. 1992/RS
2. 3.1 v6/ 700r4
3. t-tops
4. 4th gen manual cloth seats, deleted cat, flowmaster muffler, spare tire/jack removed.
5. 3,200 (with almost empty tank of gas, with me in it)
5.3 Lm7
T-56 trans
UMI Subframe connectors
6 point jegs cage
Corbeau fixed back fiberglass racing seats with harnesses
No jack or spare
No washer bottle
No rear seat
92 Z28 GFX and spoiler swap
Ctsv Brembos
4th gen rear
18 inch c5 wheels with 275 rubber all around.
Car still has radio, power steering, full interior minus the rear seats. Working heat and A/C
My car got weighed at the scrapper many years ago (long story, I wasn't scrapping it). '86 IROC-Z with t-tops and all power options. Aluminum heads. At the time, it had a fiberglass hood, automatic, 1/2 tank of fuel, as well as a younger 140 lb me. It was 3680 lbs. I thought that was kinda hefty.
Old thread but I have weights from 3 different 3rd gens.
1992 RS 305/700r4/10bolt, 18x11 with 315 tires square, Full tank of gas, T-Tops on. 2 sets of SFC 1985 Camaro Gutted interior, No T-Tops or any weather seals, Unknown 25 gallon fuel cell fill level, HUGE NASCAR style roll cage, 4.8L LS/T56, No hood and most of the front end was cut off, no bumper ex. It has almost every option from the factory.

No spare tire or jack.
2 sets of subframe connectors inner/outer
