Re: drivers side mirror rattling

If its the whole mirror housing unit, then the 2 bolts that hold it down probably need to be tightened. Just everyday vibrations from driving on the road may have loosened those bolts. You have to take off the door panel. Then tighten them with a 10mm socket or wrench. There also should be a somewhat thick hard plastic gasket in-between the mirror housing and the door panel.

Re: drivers side mirror rattling

My entire mirror is not loose, just the mirror part is rattling. is there no way to remove the mirror without breaking it?

Re: drivers side mirror rattling

If you angle it all the way in, or down you'll see a small cross shape that holds the mirror in the center. If you take a screwdriver and GENTLY pry the mirror loose, then slowly pull the two drive posts out of the mirror motor. Usually these posts wear and let the mirror move around a little and rattle.
