Ok here is what I have to deal with and I hope I know what I am doing as far as putting pictures in!!! As you can see the rear quarter panel was smooshed pretty badly and I have the replacement panel. I have two schools of thought one is to just take the outer skin. and two is removing up to the mold line of the inner fender

 

I am getting ready to do the same thing. I think I would have cut your new quarter at or just above the factory seem. Then drill out all your spot welds and reinstall. If you dont mind me asking where did you get your quarter and what did you pay for it? Also how did you remove it.....torch,saw? I have found a parts car but I dont kinow if its worth what he is asking for it.

 

i Just did this to my car. i drilled out all of the factory spot welds on the new panel and on the car. my outer wheel house was so messed up that i wound up cutting out the jacked up part and splicing in a decent amount off of the donor car. that in turn made it a little more difficult to line everything up.. but i really had no choice. i would suggest that you remove only the outer skin and see what you have to work with. you may be able to straighten it out so that it is usable.. but at least if you have to weld in a new piece it looks like you could use a small portion and be pretty well off. good luck with your project!

 

well I am luck I got the new quarter and door with the purchase of the car!! I also got lucky in the fact I found a salvage yard that had all the other parts such as rear decklid, fender, and various other parts for 80 bucks the guy I bought it from finally ran out of money or motivation? my plan for my day off is to drill out the spot welds.

 

how is it coming along?? mine seemed like it took a while.. but it was sooo worth it to do it right instead of trying to hide problems with bondo. good luck! i am anxious to see how it's going.

It sucks, but it's do-able. Honestly after doing that one, if it was my car I would have gotten another shell and swapped everything over to it. I think that would be better/easier.

 

thanks for the thread man. I am back to that quarter panel. after trouble with the read brake shoes the car is coming apart in bits and pieces, every time I shut the doors LOL.
