Painting
The original paint is starting to fade, I'm about to put fiberglass fenders, cowl hood, and soon I will order fiberglass doors. I'm going to sand the car soon. I have only ever rattle can primered and rattle can painted cars, but I want to try out my spray gun now. (I can set up a booth and fans).
My question is do I prime the car with rattle cans and then use the spray gun to do the coats?
and what do you guys think of a pink iroc (drag car)? I originally wanted to do electric blue/sonic blue with white stripes but it would be more enjoyable spanking people at the track with a pink car.

Re: Painting
I only like to use cans to cover something up and I do not have time to do it right before rust could start. My issue is that can primer block sands like crap, gumming up the paper and fillers can leave a flat spots over filler, as though the catalyst is drying out the primer.
I will use the cans when metal working to prevent flash rust
I prefer to use a 2k primer (or epoxy for the first)after metal is ready and then start blocking in between more coats of 2k which seals the body work nicely.
As for a pink cars if your a woman I guess its ok.
There is a pink chevelle here with a 502 and it is popular with the ladies at car shows. (Gets a lot of votes at shows) It is owned by a man.
Not for me and my wife even sells Mary Kay. Her car is Flame red.

Re: Painting
Ah thanks...
and as far as the pink car idea, I'm a guy but my sonic blue iroc fell through when I realised racing stripes wouldn't look right with the hood I have. I was thinking pink cause it would be a little bit funny to me to rock out a pink car with a beefy stroker power plant.
