Hi Guys. Since I got in contact with a few nice people here after my first post ..

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...questions.html

..I wanted to share some ideas I had about my project. This is the Camaro I bought few weeks ago with a new engine and almost everything in great conditions except the fact that it need some color.

http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...7a0004fdc3.png

I always built cars with unique engines or bodyparts nobody else had, because I dont like to have things other people have too. I was thinking about an idea to make the front of the 3rd Gen. Camaro looking a little more agressive. Usually (in Europe where I came from) you used to do that with the so called evil look, adding additional parts to the hood to make it look more angry. So i started to try that in Photoshop at the Camaro but I didnt really like it. I love the Design of the 1st and last Gen Camaro I tried to do that at the 3rd Gen. and I gotta say that I like it so much that I plan to create this front very soon. I was wondering if anyone saw that alreay on a Camaro of the 3rd Gen and what you think about the Design and idea. Here 2 pics I made with Photoshop:

http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...cca8a1bd7e.jpg

http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...1a5023f704.jpg

And this is the color I already bought for the Camaro:

http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...726d0634a6.jpg

Its called Daytona Gray Perleffect originally from the Audi A6. In the sunlight this color is ****ing amazing. I worked for Porsche and Audi back in Europe and swear to myself that my next project is going to end up in that color.

So what you guys think?

Greetings from San Juan

Re: Unique Front Design aka 1st Gen
If you look around here on TGO, your not the first to talk about 5th gen styling on a 3rd gen. Even the magazines have had artists renderings.

But yours is the most "simple" & logical way to achieve the look, in a way that is not only possible, but retains some 3rd gen identity.

Re: Unique Front Design aka 1st Gen
Well I want to be able to do it by myself and that way it is pretty easy. I just have to cut it out and fill the rest straight again. Its been forever I did such things but I think it would look pretty cool. Can you show me some links of such ideas? That would be great.

I'll give you ONE, that came up in my first search. The search feature that TGO provides can be real handy. Use it wisely & you'll rarely even have to ask a question.

Re: Unique Front Design aka 1st Gen
Thx. I dont like any of those designs. I wanted to stay with a 3rd Gen Camaro and just try to make some kind of connection link between 2 cars and not exactly the front of another car into mine. Well I gonna start to do that soon and I keep you updated how it ends

One question to the backlight. Is there anything else available than the original once and the black cover? Cause they are pretty ugly with the orange in it. Looks too european. for me..

Again.... Hint....Look for 'VHT Nightshades'(to get black) or 'Candy Apple Red'(to get all red)

OK great. Well, if nobody ever write and always use the search the forum would be empty. Why is it that in every forum everybody always talk about the search? Its not so bad to have social contacts even in internet

Let me try this with those keywords. Sounds very good already

#1 Because server space costs $.

#2 (and mainly) Why post the answer answer over & over & over &.......Stick around long enough & you'll question too, why you keep reading the same stuff over & over & over &.......

There will always be new technologies, new cars, new paint jobs & ideas, to keep the social talk going.

Re: Unique Front Design aka 1st Gen
Come on man.. You cant be serious about #1 hahaha. You do know how much space text needs right? And in the year 2009 everybody offers unlimited webspace as well. Dont make me laugh

And to point 2. Nobody forces you to read every topic or to answer if you are not in the mood. A forum is a place where people come together to SHARE different topics and hobbies like in this case.

I do host a couple of huge forums too and I always prefer to
TALK to people because 1. thats the reason forum exist and 2. I get more detailed information. Im not a friend of forum searches because the most cases (i have or had) dont really work with a keyword.

Well thank you anyways for your time. Im happy that i found everything i wanted to know.

They don't work, because
A. Poor seach techniques
B. They are way overloaded by results, that the user has to sort through to find an answer.

Funny how when people ask somethiing, I can do a search. Find the answer in the first few posts, THEN I post back to the person who asked. So I VERIFY that the answer is easily accessible, before I say a single word. I do not just jump in & say ! This goes back to reason A.

Re: Unique Front Design aka 1st Gen
i gonna get the camaro to my house this week. the only thing im not quite sure about is what exactly was below the bumber when take it off. i just took a few pics of the engine but i dont know if there was parts of the frame, fan or anything like that. for the bumper itself it will be pretty easy to alter the design. maybe someone have a pic from below the bumper or with open hood? i tryed to search in here and google but didnt find anything i can use.

Edit: One word about aerodynamics. I thought about that. Beside the fact that it could be dangerous to open the hood with too much wind pushing it up, it shouldn't be so bad. IF I would go for top-speed maybe but i always was a fan of accelerating and not top speed and im from Germany where you can go without speed-limit. The idea for that design have another reason too. Im planning to change the engine to a twin turbo with 2 T3 Garrett Turbos, the same I used for the Escort RS. For that the engine needs lots of air air air and with the original design of the Camaro it wouldn't be ideal for Turbos. Especially if you live in the tropics like I do now. I also plan to build an air outtake where the plastic parts on the IROC hood are. Sorry I dont know the right word right now. English is not my first language. Anyways, I cant wait to start working on it :-) Its been a year that I had something to do on a project car and I cant wait to learn all about V8 Cars since I never had one before.

Re: Unique Front Design aka 1st Gen
Hi guys. Today was Halloween for most of you, for me it was Christmas - I finally had time to get the Camaro.. God this sound.....

Anyways. I checked everything behind the front bumper and I THINK I will be able to do this design idea. From what I saw all I have to do is to cut a piece of metal where the lights are fit to, and redesign the airintake and the airfilters. Should be possible and I have to work on the entire body pretty hard anyways before it gets his color. I got some new pics from the first day. The engine is in great shape (all new rebuild) and it got tons of parts I didnt even saw before. The owner gave me a brandnew chip with a bill about $500 made for this engine and a set of fuel injectors - also new - to use with this chip. I made a f... great deal here. Nice basis for a project.

Tomorrow im going to rip out the carpet and all other crap I dont need like the back seats and prepare the inside to get painted too.

Does anybody know wherre I could buy a (used) roll bar *cage*? I dont know whats the name for that in english. That lol:

Re: Unique Front Design aka 1st Gen
You don't buy roll bars/cages used, you weld them in. Check out spohn.net or summitracing.com, you'll find the materials are actually not too expensive. ($160-170 for an 8 point roll bar) the installation is what can get expensive

Wow I never thought it would look that good. Someone should photoshop the E36 headlights into that. Great job big fan of how it looks, what kind of support do you have underneath? I've been trying to fix the sag in the nose of my Z but that might be an even better solution.

I think this would look so much cooler with actual gill material, not mesh, with a hide-away headlight setup like the 69 ss

are you just using hood pins the keep the hood closed?

Yeah that's pretty damn awesome. I agree about the grille thing though. Maybe billet upper and lower grilles, For hideaway headlights I guess the covers cold probably go up and sit under the hood. I like it may have to get a second nose to try somethings on, gonna paint what I've got now put too much effort ino to not.

Re: Unique Front Design aka 1st Gen
Judging by the filled turn signal depressions, my guess is that it is a fiberglass nose, not urethane. So redoing the center in fiberglass would be way easier than in the original urethane.

If so, all the owners thinking they could "fix" their stock, sagging urethane noses, might be in for a bit more of a challenge.

I'm carbed, so thats not much of an issue. I appreciate the inspiration to do this. All my friends are really digging it. My biggest issue now is finding the right hood. It will need to have a 3" cowl type bulge even though I have a smaller type air cleaner set up. Motor is just a tad bit tall.

Re: Unique Front Design aka 1st Gen
Ah ok. I didnt saw that first. In mine there are 2 Air Filters behind that space I have to cut out and I will use this space for the intercooler for the turbos later because a really big one will fit there.

So I guess I will just use one round air filter right on the air intake without the rest that was there.
