I did mine in gloss and love it. If I ever get my desktop out of the shop I will post a pic. This was one of the mods I did to her though that got my heart rate up when it was done. Its awesome

Also, with the hood you have, I'd put an IROC grille in it. Not a lot of money (Ebay) and bolt in swap pretty much.

i think im gonna go with the semi gloss itll get done this spring when i take it out of storage it needs a few new things done too like all new shocks possibly springs and brakes mad i may be deleteing my cat (very low to the ground because of the previous owners home made subframe braces it scrapes on bumps with more than one person in the car) and probbably a cutout in that area

Re: headlight pockets black yes or no?
that was one of the first mods i did, that and replaced the crappy dry rotted rs grille with a 91-92 z-28 grille. Its amazing what small things can really do to spruce these cars up.

Go semi... as mentioned above, gives it the factory look. The factory was never wrong, was it?

Re: headlight pockets black yes or no?
honestly i dont know what the car is i originaly purchaced it beliveing it was an 88 z28 i later found out from reading around on here that they diddnt make a z28 in 88 so i kept snooping around to find that they made a debadged iroc in 88 and the rs was only a limited build v6 so what else could it be because it has a rs style hood and rims also any ideas?

Re: headlight pockets black yes or no?
A little of topic, but you're right, there was no "Z28" in '88. It was the now only the Z in IrocZ (the RPO Z28 is part if every '88-'90).
In other owrds, in '88 you could buy two kinds of Camaros . . . the Sport Coupe or the IrocZ. If you don't have the original SPID that came with the car, it can be hard to determine what you have. Trim and options can be changed. Your engine is the LO3. But that doesn't help because it was the optional engine is the SC and the base engine in the IrocZ.
A trim or build sheet would help, but finding one is a roll of the dice. Not all cars had one.
As for the headlight buckets, if you're not too concerned with what you have, do what appeals to you. Go for black if you like it. I think it looks good on your ride.

Re: headlight pockets black yes or no?
I say gloss black when I first got my car painted I was having a tough time between choosing gloss or flat, and I am glad I went with gloss it looks great

Personally, I'd paint the front spoiler body color, return the wheels to the stock Argent color, and leave the headlight pockets body color. Too much black ends up looking silly.

Re: headlight pockets black yes or no?
I'm going to go with the minority on this one and say leave 'em body color. I think the black buckets look good with certain colors, such as red and white, but with your color, I'd say leave them.
I'm also going to agree with the other guy and say that you should paint the bottom part of the front bumper the color of the car.

Re: headlight pockets black yes or no?
You can hit up the history/restoration forum if you want specifics, but in this case... I'd start with the color... Not all colors were offered on all models. That shade of blue wasn't offered on the Iroc. Next, most Irocz's have foglights and the matching grill, 16" wheels, a louvered hood, emblems, decals, stripes, etc. There are some exceptions, but in general...

Re: headlight pockets black yes or no?
to ShMaCk2004 i want to remove them i hate them with a passion but the po cut the hood underneath them so theyre "functional" and wont be able to afforn a new hood any time soon unless i can get one from the junkyard cheap because it needs new shocks/springs the exhaust to be repaired new fuel lines new front breaks including calipers and a master cyl and im a highschool student. as for the front spoiler im gonna have the original paint matched up and have it painted in boces the black was just temporary because i replaced the spoiler with a new one whick was red. which brings me to the body color it isnt the original paint it was originally red and after i purchaced the car i found out it was wrecked along with re painted. i dont have the center caps for the rims they werent there when i bought it but the rear bumper says camaro and the dash says 5.0 ho z28 and the side ground effects were replaced so they just say rs on them. and for the rims they were painted when the car was with a paint gun primer, paint and then clear so its very hard to get off how would i go about this?
thanks ray
