Paint Help!

Hi there, i just ordered a passenger side mirror for my camaro rs off ebay.
Its originally red but someone sprayed some primer over it.
I thought this would be the perfect chance to sand it down and paint it.
Is there any spray paint that would match the color of my car?
Like shine-wise and everything?
Anyone know any good spray paint brands for cars?
Should i clear coat it? (Dont want it shinier than all the other paint)
Thanks.

Re: Paint Help!

If you look in the center console glove box you might find the paint code (edit: on a RPO sticker along the bottom). IIRC it would start with either a U or an L. I'm thinking it should match if it has the original paint.

Re: Paint Help!

If the paint on your car is in good shape then chances are the mirror will look out of place if you try to spray paint it yourself. If your paint is in decent shape then what i would do (if i were you) is clean and degrease it, then scratch it all up nice with 500 grit or so and take it to a bodyshop with your paint code. Your going to have to trust that the prep work was done correctly before the primer was put on. You could always just sand all the old primer off and reprime out of a rattle can. But the most important part is to clean and degrease it before doing anything. and dont try to paint anything that insn't scratched up good. As far as brands go, i've had good luck with sikkens and ppg, but ask at the auto or bodyshop supplies store.

Hope that helps
