Finishing up my painted taillights & emblems

Just thought id share this with everyone. Last night i finally got around to painting my taillights and the badges off of my 92' Z28. Had to paint in my basement and leave them there over night and the cold left some nasty cracks in the paint
So now I gotta find some more time to wetsand them and do another clear coat. I did 3 coats of black (Nite Shades), and about 4 coats of clear coat.

Let me know what yas think.

But here is the finished product (not on the car yet). Dont mind the heart blanket lol

I need to be able to drive so the lights are going on tomorrow as is, ill just fix them up over the weekend.

BTW, if your wondering why the hell I didnt just remove my badges instead of painting them black? Its because the original car color was teal and the car is now black, and with the badges off, I have ugly teal spots just chilling there

Re: Finishing up my painted taillights & emblems

its actually a care bear blanket (; lol
really though? ive done my taillights on my eclipse, 4th gen camaro, and my brother's tahoe and we used clear coat everytime. We never did it without the clear coat, but it always comes out with a glossy finish to match the car with it.
Heres some pics from today after I got everything done. I havent gotten around to washing it since christmas due to the car not running/weather. Its all good to go though so im hoping to wash her up and tint the windows this Saturday.

For some reason the reverse and turn signal blocks look dull in the picture but its not like that in person.

I like the blacked out emblem look. Keeps people on the street wondering if its an RS or Z28
Next up is the windows, to black it out even more.

The clear is just added protection from the sun/weather. You could buff the nighshades and make it glossy, but with clearcoat, it'll look better and will last longer.
