cowl hood scoop

cowl hood scoop

i am lookin to put a cowl hood scoop on my 83 camaro. i have the fiberglass hood but it has the hole where the air cleaner is comming out. so i need some imput or ideas.
ive looked at jc whitney's cowl Part#wp863810 it is 49 1/2long 22wide 2 3/4 tall

or the ebay L - 47.5", W - 22" (26" w/ flange), H - 3" (inches).
any ideas on what i should i use?? or is there any other options out there?

the problem with adding a glass cowl to an existing hood is cracking. Over time the connection you make will begin to crack, or it can even tear off at speed. The best bet would be to saveup and buy a 1pc cowl hood. They pop up used ever now and again for a decent price.

If the hood is fiberglass and your scoop is fiberglass you should be fine. Make sure to bond the scoop really well and put a few layers of mat on the inside of the joint to add strength. Use as little bondo as possible.


take your time with it. I've built a few fiberglass hoods and really screwed up a couple by rushing.

Ive done it a ton of times... i will sand down the hood and inset the cowl and ues fiberglass resin and only use a little bondo and i will lay a few layers inside of fiberglass. and use revits i was jsut wondering if any one has any imput on which cowl to use???
