Floor pan project!!

I'm about to embark on a pretty large project pretty soon. Replacing the entire floor and hopefully be able to customize something where the back seats will have more leg room!! lots of questions here before i get started. First off, will i have to take out engine and trans to redo floor? I'm not swappin anything so i wasn't sure. Also, when i get to my back seat project will i be able to cut metal outta the way and weld it back on further back towards car, or will anything in undercarriage get in the way? Also I'm worried about where the fenders attach under car, near the floor(pullled out rusty fender awhile back and it tore whatever it was attached to off a bit), so was that part of floor pan or it front fenders bolted to something else? Lastly, I need a good list of tools I need to go buy, obviously I need a welder and mask, but what else? Any suggestions on saws, cutters, and especially hydrolic/air drills with lots of extentions? Help me out with all this so I can get going !!! I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Floor pan project!!

Not sure on anything being in the way but I do know that you will need a spot weld cutter and some air tools. Air hammer with chisels. This is because even after you cut the welds you will still need the chisel to get most of them apart. You will also want a good wire wheel and a grinder. Wire wheel to locate welds if you can't see them through the paint. Grinder for smoothing things out of course. There are a lot of cutting tools, it really depends on the situation as a deciding factor as to which you will need. It would be the most ideal if you had them all on hand. Cutting wheel, nibbler, and reciprocating saw minimal. Again, make sure you get a spot weld cutter, it looks like a fancy drill bit.
