Where can I find this trunk lock?
Sup guys. I tried looking everywhere for this trunk lock for my 86 IROC-Z. It's not just any other lock cylinder, but on the end it has a rectangle type end that slides into the plastic housing. Where can I find a new one at?
Re: Where can I find this trunk lock?
Dealership... Standard might make a replacement. Most of the aftermarket dealers should have something that'd work. If not you could always find one in a junkyard and have a locksmith re-key it to your existing keys.

Re: Where can I find this trunk lock?
Well I dont think this lock is re-key able. Let me explain. When I got the IROC as a gift, I had no idea that there was so many things jerry rigged in the Camaro. So anyway, my pull down motor took a dump. I removed the panel and bang. The whole lock and cable was hanging. Come to find out, it has another lock cylinder that has that long shaft that turns the slotted wheel to unlock the hatch. Well I want to take out the existing lock and re-install the original lock (in picture) but I dont have the original key. Also it is evident that the pictured lock cylinder had malfunfuntioned and the original owner tried to drill out the lock. So it is a dead lock. I've looked all over the place for a lock cylinder that has the same rectangled butt, but I have failed to find one. I'll try the dealer on Monday. By the way, what is this type of lock assembly called?

So then If I find one, the lock smith can install new tumblers, grind them down and have it match my door key/lock?
Re: Where can I find this trunk lock?
I've got a nasty habit of buying cars that either have trashed locks that have been poorly oiled, or lost keys, or the locks have been removed with slide hammers, so I've been through this a few times. Any locksmith worth his salt should have all the materials needed to gauge the existing key and match another lock to the key.
Rock Auto shows a Standard TL106 or TL106B. The B is a black bezel, the other is chrome. Either one is listed under $7. Then have a locksmith rekey the cylinder to your key. You local autoparts store should be able to get Standard parts, so you can make sure it's got the tab to engage the solenoid cable assembly.

go to the wrecker and look for any old iroc ta firebird or cadilac they all have the same system i just swaped it out. once you have the lock cyclinder in your pocket your able to get it keyed at your local jobber or simply turn it over take the steel strap out of the bottom it is ususlly shinny when you clean it were every thing is white cast alumium. have your Wifes good tupperware handy to colllect the 5 tumblers and small springs. then put your key in for the car in that lock cyclinder. open your original lock cyclinder and remove the steel tap, put your thumb over all holes execpt the end. let the contents of that hole drop out, and put the contents in the same hole of your wreckers lock cyclinder. repeat 4 time. you migiht have a fitment problem as there was a drill used but you have the size of the tumblers and the wreckers tumblers to adjust. if your fed up leave all tumblers out and go to your jobber or assemble and it will accept any key you you insert and still look undamaged from the outside

Re: Where can I find this trunk lock?
Sounds like too much work. My big issue is that I dont want 3 different keys (ignition, doors, and trunk). I just want 2, 1 for the ignition and 1 for the trunk and doors. The less keys, the better for me.

well if he buys the set he found, then the only lock that would have a different key would be the hatch compartment box key, you could either take that lock to the locksmith and key it to the new set, or you could keep one of your old keys in your hatch so if you wanna use the compartment you will have that key in there

Re: Where can I find this trunk lock?
used one will they originaly were in caddys fleetwood savilles devilles ect 1985-1989 for our our generations when the iroc came out the put this item in the iroc and became a instant hit. every one thinks the motor will blow out but it is the sliders that get stuck seased. your able to get this exact tumber in any Fbody or Caddy used. Most auto wrecker in my area will not charge for parts like this but you come out with a boat load of parts for cheap.
as for getting at your tumblers i see that you already have the parts pulled apart, now take the C clip out of the body that holds in the lock tumber. that spring in is the return spring take a note of its position and detatch it. at the front of the cyclinder you need to remove the crome door there are 4 fold over tabs. now just push the lock out of the allumium casting you will see that little strip it will be about 3/4 long and 1/16 wide. follow other instructions. then reverse steps to install.
practice on the damaged one that you all ready have the one that was drilled out
