The hatch locks in and begins to go down, but at about half way down the latch releases like it was unlocked by the key. The hatch goes all the way down and up if i put my finger on the little black sensor. I have the pull down assembly as high as it can go.

 

Check Top Down Solutions. I believe they have a trouble shooter to help see whats wrong. Even if not they can help.
