Sunroof??

I have a sunroof in my 89 RS i think by the condition of the headliner around it that it might be leaking. anyone know of somewhere that has weather stripping you can buy to replace the original? im not even sure if the sunroofs came stock only for the fact i typically only see t-tops convertibles or just plain hard top. any info would be great like to get this fixed before i re do the interior

Re: Sunroof??

There were no factory sunroofs, it's an aftermarket addition.

It sounds like whoever put it in there didn't do it right. Check the seals around it.
Did they just cut a hole in the roof and stick it in there or did they cut a bigger hole in the roof and cut the sunroof off of another car and weld it in there?

Re: Sunroof??

I had a sunroof in my 1987. I found that the rubber gasket had to be kept very clean or it would leak. At least once per month I would open it and wipe the gasket with a damp cloth. Once or twice a year I had to adjust it too. You can loosen the pieces that hold it in place and adjust it so that it seats evenly and snugly on the gasket.

I got used to the maintenance and loved my sunroof!
