what is this body part
I need to replace the screen part thats under the windshield wipers, what is this called? Do I need to replace it or can I cover the opening with stainless sheetmetal?

i would call it the cowl vent. that's where your blower motor gets air supply.

yeah, dont cover it if you plan on using the hvac system in your car. for racing only is ok.
