Z28 Grille Mounting

I've got a new Z28 grille that I want to mount on my 91 RS. The RS grille has mounts on the top and bottom of each corner however the Z28 grill has mounts on the top corners and the sides of the center piece. There isn't anything for the center piece to screw on mount to. What have you other guys done?

I drilled a couple hols in the center part that lined up with the holes in the grill, and then slid something like this over the holes I drilled.

I'll look again, but if I recall correctly where the holes on the center part line up, there isn't anything to drill through. The plastic doesn't extend back far enough. I'll look again this weekend to make sure.

Re: Z28 Grille Mounting

Whe I put a foglight grille on my 88 sport coupe I had to drill out the koles in the sides. There are 2 on each side.I just drilled small holes into the plastic and inserted the oem sheet metal screws. It worked fine

Re: Z28 Grille Mounting

I didnt drill any holes when swapping over to z-grill on my 91rs, just used some small self tapping screws.

Re: Z28 Grille Mounting

I just used the top mounts and left it - it's stayed on over 2 years now. I need to do something else, just haven't found anything that makes me happy yet.
