paint questions
paint questions
hey guys
I'm coming to you guys first, a little background first. I am purchasing a 1992 camaro RS which is already black but needs a paint job, I would like to paint it red but if it will not work out I will repaint it black and save a bunch of time not disassembling the car but my biggest concern is I don't mind taking the doors, hatch, hood and ground effects off to get a paint job that looks right. However I don't feel comfortable pulling an engine and I don't have a cherry picker, I don't want to do this halfway (not looking finished) so my questions are
#1. has anyone painted an engine bay without removing the engine? I have never heard of anyone doing this but if somebody has with decent results please let me know how and what they did (and yes I have searched many different times with different wording and never found any results)
#2. I have looked into pearl paint and www.paintwithpearl.com has very reasonable prices. I have looked at autobody101's website and found a couple people who seemed to think it was a good product but I feel like I know you guys much better so has anyone here used this? And what did you think of the results?
3. If I repaint it black I would like to do some pearl to kind of set it off but I can not find any decent pictures of people who have painted with a black base and pearl (I realize a picture will never do a pearl paint job justice as you have to see it in person to do it justice). Has anybody done this or does the black kind of wash it out and make it unnoticeable? I was thinking black with some pearl white heritage stripes and a silver pearl over a black base on the rest of the car. I am just wondering if anybody has done any kind of pearl on a black base and how it turned out.
As I stated above I trust you guys more than anyone else on the internet so I would like to hear ALL opinions and what you guys have done. Thank you in advance.
