Door mounting adjustment help please [pic]

After I had my car painted a couple years ago, I was ok with the misalignment of the lower rear door. Now... it bugs he heck out of me. I took it to a body shop to see what they would charge and was told it was an easy fix.

So, thinking I'd do it myself... can anyone give me some advice on what to do?

Here is a pic.

Are the hinge pins in good shape? If the lower ones are totally shot it could cause the bottom of the door to stick out a little. The hinge is welded to the door so no adjustment there. You can adjust the striker but it may cause the top of the door to sit recessed compared to the quarter panel.

If the hinges are good, the door could be bent slightly.

I think I may have the same problem with my driver side door, I have replaced the bushings and pin on the bottom but I think the top hinge is the culprit. This could be the same issue that you are having frenchican. I don't know how to fix that top hinge, anyone have any suggestions?

I had both doors of and rebuilt the hinges I canot see doing it on the car my drivers door lined up perfect.I had to slot the passenger side body side hinge to properly align my door it was way off.The problem is if u adjust the door back u may have to adjust the front fender, hood, and nose in order to get the proper gaps.Mine was a real pain in the but to get perfect.
