Replacing t-top gaskets...windshield adhesive

What should I use to glue down my new gaskets? 3M windshield adhesive? Never done this before...don't want to use the wrong stuff!

I just reinstalled mine and used winsheild adhesive but talking to a window installer he to me i needed to use a special primer so it wouldn't eat away at the metal. Im not exactly sure what kind of primer it was but i would definetly check it out before you put adhesive on your car.

Re: Replacing t-top gaskets...windshield adhesive

I used 3M weatherstrip adhesive and found it very runny and dried hard. I then decided to seal the weatherstrip to the body by using the 3M windshield rope caulk. I rolled it out thinner than it comes, trying to maintain an even consistency, and placed it between the weatherstrip and the body. This will prevent any water from getting to the bottom area of the weatherstripping if you do it correctly.

BTW, be sure to bridge the gap from the ttop rails to the A pillar and the b pillar. If you don't bridge that gap with the rope caulk, your tops will leak.

I used the 3M a couple of weeks ago on my Jeep Cherokee door seal and I didn't think it was runny at all.

I put it on pretty thin and then also put some inside the weatherstrip channel, and that worked perfect.
