84 T-tops on a 91?
84 T-tops on a 91?
Ok, so my '91 Camaro has a set of Lexan T-tops that need replaced, they are cracked pretty badly.
I bought a set of glass tops off an '84 Z28. After purchasing I relized the lock pins are not the same, my Lexan tops have big spring loaded plastic clips with the metal rod through the center, the '84 tops just had the metal rod.
I read a post on here that said the pins on the T-tops should be able to be swapped, but when I removed the plastic cover I could not see a way to remove the whole pin assembly off the '84 glass tops.
The problem I'm having with the glass tops is that the pins do not line up properly with the holes on my car so I can not latch them on. I read another post that said the pins are adjustable, but there are no adjustments on the '84 tops that I can see.
Is there anything I can do to make these tops latch, or should I just sell them and look for a new pair?

Re: 84 T-tops on a 91?
The holes are adjustable to a degree. Take the screw that holds the top of the A pillar out, and gently pull it out some, you'll see where the screws holding the brackets are. Same with the B pillars - there's brackets underneath.
As I understand it, the newer tops, the plastic sleeve stays in place, and the metal pin slides through it - so the standard metal pins on the earlier tops should still attach and fit fine in the holes - you just maybe need to adjust the brackets (holes) to line up better.
BTW - I did the same - swapped in older glass for the cracked up plastic tops.

Ditto, someone swapped glass ones onto my '91 as well. Don't forget to swap the lock cylinders too, someone forgot to do that one mine so I have two sets of door/t-top keys now which is lame.
