new hood

im thinking of replacing my factory steel hood (because it wont fit anymore) with a fiberglass cowl hood that requires hood pins.

how hard is it to install hood pins and a hood like that?

Re: new hood

I recently purchased a fiberglass ram-air hood for my 89. my local body shop installed and fitted it for me (no time to do it). He charged me 3 hours for labor, and said it was a pain in the *** because none of the hardware mount features were where they needed to be. He made it work, and it actually fits quite nicely. But based on the mods he had to do to mount it, I will definitely be installing hood pins as a precaution. My body guy actually called the manufacturer of the hood to inquire about the pins and their response was "recommended but not required"

Now to my issue - body guy was told to make sure the pins were installed at an angle so that the hood did not get stuck coming up and back at the same time....anybody ever run into this issue....thanks for reply
