Fresh Paint

Fresh back from the paint shop. We've had this bird since it was a year old. While the car has been kept in original configuration over the last 25 years the blue paint the shop had was a slightly different but I liked it better. Not a show car finish or anything fancy but it is a urethane and it's clear coated.

My only disappointment was that I had the front grills (not shown) repainted in semi-gloss black. THey still came out too glossy for my tastes and makes them look 'repainted'. Maybe I'll re-do them myself later but good enough for now.

The small bird decals (it's a V6 model not a T/A) on the hood and B-pillars are surprisingly expensive to replace - may just skip those altogether. I do plan to re-install the chrome FIREBIRD badges on the fenders - they cleaned up like new. Haven't decided on replacing the factory side molding (not shown) - JCWhitney has exact replacement black plastic molding by the roll. We'll see.

I must admit to one deviation from original configuration of this car. Someone offered me a T/A rear deck spoiler for $10. So I had that painted blue too (not shown). It's low profile and subtle.

Once I get it together again I may consider having the windows tinted - but I'm thinking a very light tint - perhaps in a silver or blue hue.

Thoughts on having the glass tinted or reinstalling the factory side molding?

Re: Fresh Paint

Personally, I prefer the cars without the side moulding.
