Help!!! Really nasty rust under my car!!!
We finally jacked up my '91 Z28 that I just purchased three days ago. The insides of the wheel wells have small area's where it has rusted through and the floors look terrible! Any idea's of how to fix this? It looks like the car was sitting in a pond, I can acutally see some of the wires through the rust, and I can touch the padding under the carpet through the rust.
How does rust get this bad... It looks like it sat at the bottom of a lake for 15 years.

You need floorboards. Find a body shop that has done this before. They can be replaced at about $200 per side plus labor.
Wheel well I don't know if they can be replaced. Always look at the floor when buying a thirdgen.

Ouch - I hate to say it, but you got seriously taken on that car. For $1700; damn! You'll definitely need floorboards; thats a given. As for the wheel wells, you'll probably have to find a donor for those or get some metal and start forming.
I'm not ******* the car, (as I love 3rdgens), but I hate to see it when someone buy's a car and then finds that kind of stuff. My old blue 91 Z looked similar underneath.
My current 91Z has some rot in the in the rear wheel well areas along the side; I think I'll just have to cut em out and weld in some new metal.
BTW: Aside from the T-Tops, our cars are twins. Red 91Zs with the 305 and drum brake posi rears. Gray interiors. It seems as though lots of people like the red Zs with black hood blisters as mine were/are painted black too.

ALWAYS look under the car's you may buy.....I tap on the floors and I bring a flash light. Get an quote on the job from a good body shop. One with resto's under their belt.
