Some body rust questions
Been a member for a while joined few years back to help a friend with a 92 camaro. Recently I bought a 84 trans am fairly good shape but few spots I want to take care of. Thanks NY and your salted roads.
Also is there an into section?

So here are some pictures any ideas?
There are a couple more spots but I have no pictures
Rear right hand side under the carpet

Re: Some body rust questions
The door can probably just use a coat of paint. While that quarter, on the other hand, needs sheet metal work. Mine was worse, due to a FUBARed previous repair by the PO.
Where in NY are you?

Re: Some body rust questions
That quarter is already rusted through and is unsaveable below the body line... You can see daylight through a rust hole at the wheel well lip in the interior pic. You may be able to get away with cutting off the panel about an inch below the body line and flanging a new one in there. Either way, a wire wheel isn't going to save it down there.
You wouldn't believe mine was a Southern car when I got it, if you were to look at it now. At least they don't use sand around here, though.

Re: Some body rust questions
My fault I should have been more clear there are other places underneath that have surface rust but nothing serious I want to take care of those. For that spot I was thinking of hitting it with the wire wheel to clean the surface and see where I have good metal then welding in a new piece of sheet metal. I was just hoping there was a replacement piece I coudl buy. I have brand new 1/4 pannels in the garage that came with the car but nothing direct fit on that spot. I was also thinking if painting that under part black like a 2 tone all the way across the car like below. I think that would save me trouble matching paint
