T-Tops Camaro/Firebird

anyone kno if the T-Tops are changeable between the firebird 3rd gen and the Camaro 3rd gen?...I was at a local junk yard and found T-tops on a firebird that look brand new with brand new weatherstripping,.. but I dont know if they are compatible...seems that the Tops on the Bird have a key lock on them that my camaro does not have but it has the handle latch like mine

Re: T-Tops Camaro/Firebird

They are. As long as both are pins or both are hooks (C&C style).

My C&C tops had pins and no locks. There seem to be a variety of flavours offered by C&C. C&C tops will not fit a factory top openings and vise-versa.
One member has a set of C&C t-tops that can also pop up like a sunroof.

@Spacly-, Measure yours, measure the ones you got, you'll be able to answer your question.

Camaro and Firebird tops (factory) are dimensionally the same, though.
C&C tops are smaller (front to back).

Re: T-Tops Camaro/Firebird

The easiest way to tell is to look at the top of the windshield. If the width of the paint is the same between the T-top to the Windshield as the width of the "A-Pillar" then you have factory T-tops. However if the gap between the windshield and the T-tops is about twice the width of the A-pillar then you have C&C Tops.

From 1982-1983 and possibly early 1984 Factory T-tops used hooks, in 1984 they started using Pins, which lasted thru 1992. In 1985 IIRC locks were added to factory tops.

Re: T-Tops Camaro/Firebird

If they are locking, factory T-tops will use the door key to lock/unlock.
C&Cs use a different key.

C&C cars were delivered as hardtops. So they have the hard top visors(wider)

Re: T-Tops Camaro/Firebird

My 84 has the glass factory tops have pins with locks that use the same key
as the doors and hatch.

Anyone have pics from the outside of the car of this?

Or even better, comparison pics between factory and later model C&C tops?
