Hello Third Gen members, I bought Chris's (DjCobol) 89 IROC-Z convertible. I've been a member for a quite some time but only as lurker for info on the TPI setup on my 55 Bel Air. I was informed the other night that car I bought was in an accident prior to purchasing. I'm looking to install subframe connectors on the Camaro but was wondering if I have to put the car on a frame jig prior to doing so. The car drives straight now but the passenger side rubs the wheel well when cranked hard right. I only know first gen Camaro setups so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: New owner of a IROC-Z convertible
Welcome! I'm a new member here myself. I Just purchased an 88 Trans Am T-top from the original owner, so now I'm here looking for info to help get it back into shape. As far as your car being in an accident prior to you purchasing it is concerned, I would put the car on a frame jig if you suspect for some reason that it is not straight in order to make sure before I installed any connectors, especially if they are going to be welded in. Also, with the front wheels pointed straight forward, try measuring the distance from the center of the right front wheel to the center of the right rear wheel, (doesn't have to be the center, as long as it is the same measurement on both sides) then do the same on the left side and see how much difference there is. This may help to give you an idea if the right front wheel is pushed back some or not.

I know quite a bit about the TPI setups (305 and 350), just ask if you need a advice! My 55 runs an Accel DFI setup on a SD program but I have helped on both setups.

Thanks. I will be working on the injection soon. This car (305 TPI) has the original crappy squirters still, and I have determined that a couple of them are bad so I am going to replace them all with a set of barely used yellow-top Bosch Type II injectors that I had lying around left over from when I installed a VortechSQ on my 2000 4.6L Mustang GT. The S/C kit came with a set of 36Lb/Hr so I didn't need the stock 19Lb/Hr injectors any more....at least not 'till now . The only problem is that I work 12hr days, and won't have any time off until the end of next week. Oh well, momma needs a new pair of shoes, right? The way things are now, I'm thankful that I have a job, and I'll work however much they tell me to....It's just MO Money, right?!
