Best fitting cowl induction hood?

Well as my camaro gets closer and closer to getting painted, I want to but a cowl induction hood, probally with a 2 inch rise and steel, not fiberglass. Who has the best fitting one out there? I was looking at the one from hawks. Where else can I get them besides hawks, jegs and summit?

Is where I got mine (there are several sites under different names that all lead to the same place). It's a nice goodmark hood. Just be sure to examine it thoughly when it's delivered as it took a couple tries before the freight company would deliver one without damaging it.

Re: Best fitting cowl induction hood?

I also would have to say the 2'' Goodmark steel cowl hood. I love mine.I drove down without a hood to Concord CA. to Mats Classic Bowties and picked up the last one they had. Had them put it on for the ride back. Payed $388.00 for it including tax. I could adjust it a little more to get it to line up just right but Ive got the pins right were I want them and really haven't felt like messing with it.

A few more shots . Just so you know there is not a large cut out were the cowl opening is. Ive found that with the cowl pressure , X-Stream filter top and open element it gets air nicely through the vent. =

The fit was great. The return policy is ok, usually what happens is a claim is made with the freight company (because all items are checked for quality before leaving dock). Since my hood had to be transported by more than one company, there was a lot of paperwork and waiting involved before claims were completed. Went through two hoods and both times arrived damaged (first one was replaced, second one repaired). It sucked to wait two months after my first purchase to finally receive my hood, but it was worth it. I cannot stress how important it is to thoroughly look over your shipment with the freight carrier present (you have to sign a release anyway so might as well).

ronusmcmma I'm confused why you have hood pins with a functional hinge and hood latch. Is this just personal taste?

Re: Best fitting cowl induction hood?

Yes, ever since I had a hood fly open on the freeway. And I mean "fly" open.(a stock pickup truck) Could have killed us at that speed. I have put pins on .(Could have been my fault , or not. Ill never know.)Any way ,I found myself worrying about it allot. So Ive used pins ever since. It really just for piece of mind. After a while it just seems strange not to have them. Its a nice set that I pieced together and there all stainless . Only one primary whole. The stainless washer has a thin rubber washer under it so its not touching the hood and is all held on with a thin coat of silicone. Has worked really well for over 5 years now.
