Got my new hood on today and had a little problem and wondering if anyone else has run into it. This is a steel hood with a hole pre cut in the cowl for the air cleaner to go up into. I have a 14" air cleaner and when I try to close the hood one side of the air cleaner hits the hood and over hangs about 1/2 ". Something isnt centered and I'm doubting its my motor. The thing is the hood has the hole cut exactly in the middle where it should be. I'm at my wits end trying to figure it out and might just buy a 12" oval air cleaner so it will clear. Any opinions ?

 

Its been a long time ago but I had the same question about a Goodmark hood I have. My 14x3 open element clears the hole but is off center buy about 3/4 in. I was told that the engine is made slightly off center . I cant remember why at the moment. I replaced the worn motor mounts with Energy Suspension polyurethane ones and that seemed to help some. Maybe someone will jump in and explain a little better. In the meantime take a tape measure to the engine and bay and you will see what I mean.

 

See i read that some where else also. The thing is if your going to build a hood for a camaro and you know this why make it that way when you know the motor is off center. I have a $150 14x4 K&N X Stream air cleaner thats junk to me now cause it wont fit. I think i'm just gonna get this and be done with it.
