1982-84 Trans am Fenders
Can someone please help me?
I am looking for a drivers side fender for 1982 trans am .
I can not find one anywhere. I have called around for aftermarket ones and no one seems to carry them..
Does anyone know what the differance is between the 82-84 and the later models 85 and up fenders?
The fender I am speaking of is the one that has the rectangle area for the air extractor .
Please help me out .
thx.

try keystone. That is where I got mine a few years back 2005ish. Good price on them as well. I got passenger and drivers. The main difference is where the mounting holes are for the gfx. The GFX on the 85-92 sat higher up. They also took different side vents. the 85-92 had the same size hole, but the gfx covered part of it so the actual vent that clips in has a smaller molded hole in it.
I will look to see if I have any picks to show differences
Hmmm... I went and looked at my pics.... The ones I got were in fact the 85-92 TA fenders. They had the side vent hole, but we also had to fill the holes for the later style gfx. So I'm thinking our body man ran into the same issues as you. So its a bone yard for the real thing or fill the holes on the aftermarket style. Sorry. Wish I had better news

I said it in another thread, but there is a difference between 82-84 and 89-up fender (surely earlier models as well but I have nothing to compare), it's the top mounting hole on the front lip. It's recessed on 82-84 models but it's flush on 89-up.

about 1988 was the last year for the T/A fenders with extractor hole in them
minor holes for GFX mounting differ also
the85 up ones can be used for the 82 83 and non-aero package 84 birds yeah.,
just modify the drilled GFX mounting holes.
not a big deal really.
