toying with the idea of mounting these up on my 1988 firebird with the stock flat hood. i like the sleekness of the stock hood but it needs something to break it up. how do these mount up to the hood. judging by the pic it should be a pretty easy install on a stock flat hood? anyone tried or am i running blind?

I guess I'll be your only reply. Why don't you just find a factory power buldge hood. There's tons of them out there. They can be functional and they look badass.

Personally I wouldn't want them but that style could look ok. It shouldnt be hard. Look at Z28 or IROC at a junk yard and see if the mounting holes are below the hood level. If so it will take more work to get them sitting flush. I know our hoods are slightly more curved than the Camaro but for that short length the blisters should easily conform. Personally I would look to stay away from the Camaro looks for any exterior mods to help keep the individuality of the Bird from the Camaro. Of course though it is your car so do as you please.

I don't think it would look all that great. Everybody that looks at the car will instantly know they are camaro blisters and they'll be on a bird. I never like putting chevy anything on a pontiac and vice versa. It's what makes each one unique and I wouldn't want a half and half car.
If you want to add vents to a stock hood, check out other vents that came on cars from the factory. I know cavalier Z24's, Lumina Z34's, etc had vents that are relatively flat. Good luck whatever you decide.
