Classic Industries fiberglass front clip
i was looking through the classic industries website and i found a fiberglass front clip. ( http://www.classicindustries.com/camaro/parts/cfc4.html ) in the description, however, it says "not intended for street use." can anyone explain why it shouldnt be used on the street? i would like to pick something like this up but if it is going to blow off my car going down the road or something like that it isnt worth it, especially for the price.

thats what i was thinking too. but a corvettes entire body is made out of fiberglass (correct me if i am wrong) which i wouldnt think would be overly helpful in a crash either.

A corvette has a frame, a thirdgen doesn't. A corvette is designed from the beginning for a fiberglass (actually plastic) body, the thirdgen isn't.
Plus, most lightweight fiberglass stuff designed for light weight race applications generally has the fit and finish of a cheeseburger.

I think it would be OK to use if all the stock bumper and brackets were there. I don't seriously think the stock rubber bumper cover and thin (high strength) sheetmetal does anything in a major crash. It's the uni body and steel bumper parts that save your butt.
On the other hand the fiberglass would be hard to mount and any little bump on a curb or rub on a pole would destroy the glass and mounts easily.
The real advantage with the fiberglass IMO is you could get the bumper cover razor straight instead of the flexible stock cover that always looks a little wavy.
