Rear Bumper parts?

Post your pics of the car with the rear bumper cover removed. I want to see what is underneath it, as on my car there is a lot of rotted metal behind the bumper cover and I want to see what it is. I can't get to my camaro as much s I would like to, or else I would just remove the cover myself. I searched for pics, but I couldn't find any.

Thanks!

These are from TomP's car from WAY back when he did his quarter panel repair. Is TomP still around? Good guy.

Not much to it. There's a horizontal "bumper" spot welded to the rear of the chassis, with a large rubber honeycombed bumper support attached to it. Riveted, IIRC. Then the bumper cover snaps in place over top of it all.

Re: Under rear bumper cover?

From those pics, it's hard to tell exactly what is rusted away on my camaro. Oh well I guess i'll have to look closer someday.

Re: Rear Bumper parts?

Are there any diagrams or something like that which shows the parts of the rear of teh car? I'm talking about one of those "exploded" view type of things. I've searched google for them, but can't find anything.

Re: Rear Bumper parts?

hello all, in my experence of the three ive owned the rear bumper renforcement bar is what I believe you are seeing, for some reason they are the first to rot. after you take the bumper cover off, under the car their are either 2 or 4 nuts attached to carrage bolts on each side. it has been awhile since I removed the last one. be careful and use penatrating oil or pb blaster, in my case the carrage bolts spun so I had to cut them out. good luck!!!
