Difference in rear bumpers (82-84)
Hey, I was just wondering about the gfx aspect of the rear bumpers (Z28 vs. S/C). I was looking at the side profiles (see pics; black is Z, red is SC). Aside from the gfx bumper remaining "flush" the whole way down, and the SC bumper "stepping in" towards the bottom (see 2nd pic), I don't see too much difference dimension-wise.
Could someone tell me: If I were to get the rear qtr gfx, how much of a "step" would there be between the gfx ant the lower portion of the bumper? Maybe it wouldn't take much to sand/blend the qtr gfx to blend in? Maybe even someone could tell me the thickness of the back of that style of gfx (rear qtr, where it would normally kiss the bumper)?
I'm not just asking for myself, but anyone on a budget. If they don't have to buy the rear bumper on the earlier models, it would save a fair amount of coin, both in the cost of the bumper itself, and in paint. It would also be less of a hastle when it comes to color-matching the main bumper portion; you'd only have to paint below the ridge/body line on the old bumper. Many using this style gfx paint them a different color than the body anyways; regardless, no need to repaint the whole car for a perfect color match; the body line would split the difference. Just my reasoning, what do you guys think?
