91-92 front/back bumpers fitment

Hey guys, I have a 89 Formula and was wondering if anyone knew if the front/back bumpers and ground effect on a 91-92 trans am/formula bolt on or would I need to mod anything to have them on?

Re: 91-92 front/back bumpers fitment

They may bolt on but there are differences and parts that are hard to find to complete the swap.
The T/A's have GFX the formulas do not and most base firebirds from 91/92 that I have seen have the GFX. The bumpers are different, the GFX are not removable. Then there are the front filler panels that are rare. (a board member here was making some out of metal a while ago but i do not know if they are available)
Then there the side pieces mounting holes differences.
If you can find a nice 91/92 front bumper w/o gfx they are worth some money.hth

Re: 91-92 front/back bumpers fitment

The 91-92 T/A front and rear bumpers will fit, but you have to add the ground effects for them to look right, as the bumpers have the gfx molded in on them.

You'll also have to get the supports and the marker/fog light assembly from the 91-92 T/A as your marker lights on your pre-91 won't work with the new bumper.

All in all, its a lot of work and I wouldn't put T/A body parts on a Formula anyway. Kind of ruins the whole "Formula" thing....

The 91/92s also use a different sized headlight (4x6 vs 5x7), so you would also need new headlights & the surrounds for them.
