Locking gas door

Hey guys.
Im new to the community and will be making a full introduction later
for now I have my first concern.

Ive recently bought a 1985 Firebird
Its a bit of a beater but I've put it away for the winter and will be putting a lot more work into it later.

Right now though I need a way to bypass the locking gas cap lid.
None of the keys I got with the car seem to work.
(they also dont work in the trunk but thats not important right now)

I just want to get it open so I have access to the gas cap (for obvious reasons)

Im prepared to break it off but I'd rather do so without damaging anything else

I understand that this type of lid was not standard on most Birds and I'll probably replace it with a stock lid if I break this one.

Re: Locking gas door

call a lock smith that way you dont damage the gas tank my dads friend is one so he came over and had it off in about 5 seconds for me i just had a new non locking cap to put on, as far as keys go call your local dealer most have the keys saved and can make you new ones or the lock smith can maybe re key it.
